How-Tos: Organizing Your Makeup

Everyone who knows me knows that I'm obsessed with makeup. I have a ton of it, and for a long time, I stored it all on top of my dresser. For someone who likes organization as much as I do, it was getting out of hand. I had no room on my dresser for anything else, and if I accidentally knocked a lipstick over, it would cause everything else to fall over. I saw this image on Pinterest about a year ago and it inspired me to change the way I store my makeup.

After seeing this picture, I went to Ikea and bought a multi-tiered serving platter. If you don't have a ton of products, a cake stand is a good option. I store my foundation, blushes, bronzers and powders on the top tier, my eye products on the middle tier, and my lip products on the bottom tier. I store my palettes, which are too large for the serving platter, along with products that I don't often reach for in a makeup case that I keep in my closet. It makes so much sense to store makeup vertically as it keeps your counter tops free from clutter. I think it also looks pretty!

Natural Beauty: What's in Your Skin Care?

Have you ever thought about what's in the products you use everyday? I certainly didn't, until about a year ago. If you've read any of the posts in my natural beauty series , you know that I've been trying to make my skin care routine more natural and environmentally friendly. Everything from skin care to shampoo to hand soap to dish soap to laundry detergent is made with chemicals that have been linked to both disrupting the endocrine system and causing cancer. The EU has banned or regulated over 1,300 ingredients used in personal care products. Here in North America, we are much more lenient. April Favourites!

I can't believe it's that time again! To be honest, this list was especially difficult to compile this month. I spent April finishing up a very intensive 8 month + internship postgrad program. Between the exams, reports, projects, presentations, late nights and early mornings, I had very little time to myself to discover new products, so this list mostly includes old favourites that I found myself reaching for this month. 1. Cadbury Mini Eggs :  Mini Eggs are my favourite Easter candy and I don't even want to think of how many I consumed this month (stress eating!). At least I was balancing all that chocolate out with vegan bowls . 2.
