Today I thought I'd share some photos that I recently posted on Instagram !  Yum, local blueberries! I recently dropped by Athena Bakery on the Danforth. They have the best baklava!  The first two September issues I picked up. Watching an outdoor movie at Sugar Beach. Walking along the boardwalk on the Toronto waterfront. I think I'm becoming slightly addicted to stationery. I picked up these adorable Rifle Paper Co. notebooks from Chapters Indigo recently. This was well worth the wait - the line up was down the sidewalk! This is espresso ice cream with chocolate and almond pieces in a Reese's Pieces waffle cone. If you are in Toronto, definitely check out Dutch Dreams at St. Clair and Bathurst.  Swimming with some friends.

Doors Open Toronto: Humber Fashion Institute

Image
A couple weekends ago, I got to participate in Doors Open Toronto at Humber College as an alumni of the Humber fashion program. If you are unfamiliar with Doors Open , it is an event that takes place in cities across Ontario in which historically significant buildings open up their doors to the public. We set up an amazing vintage fashion exhibit at the Fashion Institute under the direction of Professor Wayne McLennan. The exhibit featured both men's and women's fashions from the 1890s to the 1970s. Everything was donated by Robert Wain, a collector from the Kitchener-Waterloo area. He has such an incredible collection of vintage apparel and accessories, and he is so knowledgeable about each and every piece. This was the first year the Fashion Institute participated in Doors Open, and we could not have asked for a better turnout. It was so great to take part as our exhibit was so well received by the community. Today I wanted to share some pictures of our exhibit with you! ...

Fashion Favourites: World Mastercard Fashion Week

Image
World Mastercard Fashion Week (aka Toronto Fashion Week - who else dislikes fashion weeks being named after corporate sponsors rather than the cities they are held in?)  took place last week. Although it lacks the international attention of other major fashion weeks, it serves as a great platform for Canadian designers to showcase their work. Unfortunately I was unable to attend any of the shows, but I did follow them through social media and the press. Today I wanted to share with you my favourite show just as I did with the New York, London, Milan and Paris shows .   Pink Tartan I adored Pink Tartan's F/W 2014 show. Founder/designer Kimberley Newport-Mimran drew inspiration from the Inuit people for her collection. It featured outerwear, dresses and separates in houndstooth, wool, and red and black buffalo check, as well as fur stoles.  My favourite looks? (Source) (Source) (Source) Watch the show  here.
