Healthy Recipe: Tropical Smoothie
Today I'm sharing my current favourite breakfast recipe. This smoothie tastes so good and is perfect for the summer! Besides tasting great, it is also loaded with nutrients. The oats contain fibre and protein while the chia seeds provide omega 3 fatty acids. The fruit contains vitamins and minerals, and the coconut milk is a source of healthy fats.
Tropical Smoothie
Serves 1
1/3 cup oats*
1 tbsp chia seeds*
2/3 cup frozen tropical fruit blend (I used a blend of mango, pineapple, peaches and strawberries. I highly recommend you use one with pineapple - it tastes amazing!)
1 ripe banana (use a frozen banana if you want a thicker, creamier smoothie)
1 cup coconut milk, preferably unsweetened, or milk of your choice
* If you prefer, the oats and chia seeds can be substituted for one serving of a protein powder of your choice.
Combine all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. Pour into a glass and enjoy!
