October Favourites!

1. Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Lip Balm Stain in Crush : I love a dark lip for fall and this lip stain is perfect. It is very pigmented, super long lasting and not drying like other lip stains.

2. Covergirl Flamed Out Mascara: I have to admit that I didn't love this mascara at first due to the wand, but it's definitely grown on me. The formula is my favourite, not too wet and not too dry. It also does an amazing job at lengthening and defining my lashes.

3. Dior CD3233 frames: I recently had a much needed appointment with my optometrist and she gave me a new prescription. Since I needed new lenses I decided that I might as well treat myself to some new frames. I usually always wear contacts but I love my new glasses so much that I've worn them every day since I picked them up.

4. Pumpkin everything. October is my favourite month and I think pumpkins make it even better. Last month I tried a pumpkin DIY, decorated my apartment with pumpkin scented candles and ate countless pumpkin flavoured baked goods.

5. Not that Kind of Girl by Lena Dunham. I have to admit that I'm not the biggest Lena Dunham fan but everywhere I go, I see girls reading this book, so I had to get it. I've enjoyed it and I think that it's definitely a must-read for young women.

No Spend November

If you're anything like me, your closet is jam-packed with clothes that still have tags on them, things you haven't worn since high school and shoes that have never seen the light of day. Since starting a new job (and finally getting a paycheck again), I've been going a little crazy. I've been spending too much money on things I don't need, and after they've been in my closet for a few weeks, I realize that not only do I not need them, but I don't want them either. For the month of November, I am challenging myself to not spend a penny on clothes, shoes and accessories. Every day I will have to put outfits together using whatever I already have in my closet. Anything I haven't reached for by the end of the month will be donated to a local women's shelter. If you also feel like your closet has gotten out of hand, I challenge you to take part!

My Favourite Method for Applying Foundation

Like concealer, there are so many ways to apply foundation. I just started using this method and it's by far the best I've ever tried. It looks totally natural while providing great coverage.

stipple foundation method

Squeeze about a dime size amount of liquid foundation onto the back of your hand. With a clean finger, dot foundation all over your face. Using a flat top brush, stipple the foundation into your skin and lightly buff it into your face and neck until blended. Repeat these steps if you want full coverage. That's it!

Fashion Favourites: Oscar de la Renta Looks

I was saddened to hear about the passing of Oscar de la Renta last week. He was such a talented designer and truly one of the remaining greats. He trained with Cristobal Balenciaga, and worked at Lanvin and Arden before launching his own ready to wear label in 1965. Over the years, he expanded into accessories, perfume, bridal wear and home wear. He also designed Balmain's haute couture collection from 1993 to 2002. He was a favourite designer of celebrities and first ladies. Today I'm taking a look back at some of my favourite de la Renta looks from both the red carpet and the runway.

Fall Decor: Pumpkins

Sorry that my posts are getting so short! Work has been crazy, but hopefully I can get back to writing longer posts soon. I recently saw this on Pinterest and I just had to share! I can't wait to try this myself!

How cute are these pumpkins?! They're such a fun (and totally simple) way to decorate for the fall. All you need is paint, glitter, lace, Mod Podge and paint brushes. I'm definitely going to try the white and glitter pumpkin this weekend!
