October Favourites!

Image
1. Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Lip Balm Stain in Crush : I love a dark lip for fall and this lip stain is perfect. It is very pigmented, super long lasting and not drying like other lip stains. $10.99 at drugstores and well.ca 2. Covergirl Flamed Out Mascara : I have to admit that I didn't love this mascara at first due to the wand, but it's definitely grown on me. The formula is my favourite, not too wet and not too dry. It also does an amazing job at lengthening and defining my lashes. $7.99 at drugstores and well.ca   3. Dior CD3233 frames : I recently had a much needed appointment with my optometrist and she gave me a new prescription. Since I needed new lenses I decided that I might as well treat myself to some new frames. I usually always wear contacts but I love my new glasses so much that I've worn them every day since I picked them up. Available online and at optometrist's offices - prices vary 4. Pumpkin everything. October is my favouri

No Spend November

Image
If you're anything like me, your closet is jam-packed with clothes that still have tags on them, things you haven't worn since high school and shoes that have never seen the light of day. Since starting a new job (and finally getting a paycheck again), I've been going a little crazy. I've been spending too much money on things I don't need, and after they've been in my closet for a few weeks, I realize that not only do I not need them, but I don't want them either. For the month of November, I am challenging myself to not spend a penny on clothes, shoes and accessories. Every day I will have to put outfits together using whatever I already have in my closet. Anything I haven't reached for by the end of the month will be donated to a local women's shelter. If you also feel like your closet has gotten out of hand, I challenge you to take part! (Source)

My Favourite Method for Applying Foundation

Image
Like concealer , there are so many ways to apply foundation. I just started using this method and it's by far the best I've ever tried. It looks totally natural while providing great coverage. Squeeze about a dime size amount of liquid foundation onto the back of your hand. With a clean finger, dot foundation all over your face. Using a flat top brush, stipple the foundation into your skin and lightly buff it into your face and neck until blended. Repeat these steps if you want full coverage. That's it!

Fashion Favourites: Oscar de la Renta Looks

Image
I was saddened to hear about the passing of Oscar de la Renta last week. He was such a talented designer and truly one of the remaining greats. He trained with Cristobal Balenciaga, and worked at Lanvin and Arden before launching his own ready to wear label in 1965. Over the years, he expanded into accessories, perfume, bridal wear and home wear. He also designed Balmain's haute couture collection from 1993 to 2002. He was a favourite designer of celebrities and first ladies. Today I'm taking a look back at some of my favourite de la Renta looks from both the red carpet and the runway. Sarah Jessica Parker, 2014 Bridal 2013 Resort 2011 Jessica Chastain, 2014 Lupita Nyong'o, 2014 Resort 2013 Amy Adams, 2013 Spring 2013 Elle Fanning, 2013 Amy Adams, 2013 Allison Williams, 2013 Carrie Bradshaw

My Favourite Method for Applying Concealer

Image
When it comes to applying concealer, there is tons of advice out there - apply it before foundation, apply it after foundation, apply it with your fingers.... Today I am sharing my favourite way to apply concealer. My favourites: Tarte Amazonian Clay Waterproof 12-Hour Concealer, $26, available at Sephora stores, sephora.com or tartecosmetics.com . EcoTools smudge brush and highlighting brush from the Essentials Eye Set, $7.99 at Rexall drug stores or ecotools.com Over the years, I have learned that less is more. That definitely is true when we are talking about concealer. I find that the more you use, the more obvious it is that you're covering something up. Instead of a concealer brush, I like to use two tiny brushes, either eye or lip, to apply my concealer. First, I apply foundation to my face. I then use the smaller brush to apply concealer to the blemish and I use the bigger brush to blend. Finally, I set the concealer with a little bit of powder to make sure it lasts

Bad Beauty Habits to Break Now

Image
Lately I've been trying to break all my bad beauty habits. Things like touching your face and not drinking enough water can wreak havoc on your skin. These are 10 bad beauty habits that you must break!  1. Don't touch your face without washing your hands first. Your hands are full of germs that you don't want to transfer to your face as they can cause breakouts. 2. Drink more water. Make sure you stay hydrated as dehydrated skin looks dull and tired. 3. Don't forget your SPF. We're all guilty of this. Remember to apply sunscreen before you apply your makeup, and if you're out in the sun, make sure you reapply often. When I was growing up, my mom used to say that we didn't need to wear sunscreen after 4 pm. Well the sun has become so strong since then that it is now recommended that we wear sunscreen until sunset! Don't forget about your lips either! 4. Don't hoard makeup. I've seen some pretty impressive makeup collection videos on Y
